It’s used by 1 in 2 medical students in the United States, has an alumni base of over 300,000 students, and helps students answer questions 77% faster than conventional teaching. Today, Sketchy is offered to Medical, Pharmacy, PA, and MCAT students with plans to rapidly expand into new verticals.

About the Role

The Director of Marketing is a very hands-on, metrics-driven individual. In this role you will be responsible for growth by amplifying and expanding the connection with our customer, and  building and optimizing the current B2C marketing engine. To be successful in this role you will be strategic, accountable, and opportunistic and your ability to manage and measure the customer acquisition funnel is critical. You are a player/coach that is entrepreneurial, scrappy and a strong leader capable of quickly building and managing a marketing team to execute on demand generation for all current and future products and services.


  • Community Development. Building a scalable and cost-effective capability for outreach and engagement with potential customers through feet-on-the street ambassadors, webinars, in-person presentations, etc. 
  • Social. Managing the company’s social media efforts across all relevant platforms to significantly grow Sketchy’s reach across both its existing and future target markets – identifying opportunities to create a stronger communication loop between consumers and Sketchy that result in conversion.
  • Planning. Building a social and marketing content calendar across all owned and third-party channels including identification and management of events and conferences. 
  • Content. Managing all growth content, including video, editorial/copywriting and art across formats (product pages, emails, blogs, white papers, case studies, social, newsletter, podcasts, etc.) across all owned and third-party platforms. 
  • Funnel Optimization. Optimizing the entire sales funnel from first visit to free trial/registration.
  • Brand and Positioning. You will be responsible for the brand guidelines as they relate to company positioning and consumer communication, ensuring the guidelines evolve with the company and are strictly adhered to by all teams. 
  • Marketing Creative. Ideating, developing, and deploying all creative campaigns and associated marketing assets including company landing pages/website, the purchase funnel (and associated funnel features), all ad units, and all email/app/text messaging and notifications, etc. 
  • Performance Marketing. Define, budget and optimize all paid media, SEM/PPC and performance marketing campaigns. 
  • Drive Results. Ownership of all key marketing KPIs including visitors, visitor engagement, conversion to free trial and, in partnership with Chief Product Officer, conversion to paid, and AOV for all Sketchy products and services.

What We’re Looking For

  • 7-9 years of experience in marketing, with a focus on demand generation and funnel optimization at a B2C/technology company (startup experience preferred) with 3+ years of experience as a people manager 
  • Experience marketing to highly targeted verticals through both digital and analog efforts
  • Experience with a marketing CRM platform to support automation, social, email marketing and landing page optimization
  • Consumer focused: experience marketing/selling digital products and services at scale 
  • Communication skills are unrivaled, and you know how to make people listen and understand; experience mentoring, coaching, inspiring and developing people 
  • Embody the Agile philosophy, always iterating and improving on the process and not just adhering to the ceremony 
  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, problem solving, negotiating, influencing, facilitation, organizational, prioritization, decision-making, and conflict resolution skills 
  • Solid understanding of business modeling methodology including forecasting, market size evaluation and market data research 
  • Willingness to not only lead, but “do” 
  • Enjoy working in a fast-paced and ever-changing environment; ability to thrive and build effective relationships in a remote working environment
